My Story:

Before Sept 2016, Migraines, Blood Pressure, Anemia, Vertigo & Diabetes were taking a toll on me. I had never ran a mile or race before September 2016. In that time, I’ve been on the Dexcom CGM, ran/race-walked 427 races, including 4 Ultras & a 100 miler. What started out as running/walking for improving health reasons has turned into a full fledged RunCheweyRun Diabetes Awareness Journey. Dealing with multiple chronic autoimmune illnesses has definitely allowed me to groom & grow myself as a more versatile long term distance runner walker by not comparing my results to others, but my distance relative to my medical state/body. I do this for all community(s). Time does not matter. The will to show up, finish, inspire, and represent does!

Do you have a diabetic hero that you look up to? If so, who and why?

Robin Arzon, from lawyer to runner, taking Peleton by storm & creating her own vibe. We were on the 2017 NYC Marathon Beyond Type One Run Team & it was a true pleasure spending time together. We’ve both completed 100 miler & picked each other’s minds on various topics occasionally.
