My Story:
When I was working on a horse farm, I would have diabetes supplies and have my meter in my bag on the machine I work with. I started feeling weird, irritability, tired as the minutes past. I knew then to check my glucose. I checked it and it was 50. I had a glucose gel that an EMT that was a friend gave me. It brought up my level to where I could get some other food in me and my husband to get me and take over my position so I could rest. I called my doctor to see if I needed to come in. He said to check my level again and then in a couple hours. If it got low again…go to the ER. It stayed stable the rest of day and night. I know now to have my emergency bag with me if I am away from my house and the gels are great to travel with.
