My Story:
At work one time, I looked over at my coworker and asked her where I was. My blood sugar had plummeted and I was probably on the verge of passing out. I had no idea where I was or what I was doing. My coworkers say it took about 30 minutes for them to get me to understand what was going on. They saved the day with juice and crackers. I do not feel low symptoms, have hypoglycemia unawareness. I’m thankful for the people around me who help me when I cannot help myself.
My Health Details

Low blood sugar instances per week:6+ Instances
Daily number of times checking blood sugar:7+ times/day
Managing Diabetes with:Insulin Pump
What age were you diagnosed with diabetes?6-10
How long does it typically take you to come up when you are low?Under 1 hour
How has Transcend helped treat your low blood sugars?
I have three children, so I often get low while we are out and I’m trying to manage three of them and myself. Transcend is easy to put in my purse or the stroller so I always have them. We are frequent zoo-goers and I use at least one or two every visit, due to the walking. They are convenient and bring me up quickly without a spike. I am so thankful for that so I feel well and can enjoy the time with my family!
Do you have a diabetic hero that you look up to? If so, who and why?
I have so many! Anyone who is living life to their fullest and navigating diabetes is a hero! It’s an endless battle!
What is your biggest challenge with diabetes?
My biggest challenge with diabetes is that I just seem to not be able to keep up with my children as well. I feel bad for needing a minute to check my blood sugar or correct it. My family doesn’t mind, but it still is a burden on my heart that I can give them a “normal.”
What have you learned from your experiences with diabetes?
I have learned that I am so incredibly tough. On my worst days where I just am feeling terrible, I keep myself alive and I keep going. That makes me stronger. There’s nothing I cannot face and come out ahead!
