Transcend Warrior – Nicole Puccinelli

March 12, 2020

My Story:

I was diagnosed on May 13, 2019 at the age of 25, so it has been a whole new way of life and learning curve in this (almost) year! Overall, everything has been so positive from the fellow T1D’s I’ve met to my family, friends and coworkers.
A story that comes to mind is when I was trying on a wedding dresses a few months ago, and they asked if I had anything in particular I was looking for and I told them just something that allows me to comfortably wear my pump and CGM. Well, this quickly turned into a T1D conversation and a teaching moment, which I take as a small victory for this community!

How has Transcend helped treat your low blood sugars?

I just tried them for the first time and it was great! I was low after having dinner, and had one before I went for a walk to ensure I didn’t drop!

Do you have a diabetic hero that you look up to? If so, who and why?

Honestly, the entire community! Everyone is so positive and uplifting, and we all truly get each other.

What is your biggest challenge with diabetes?

My job. I am a wedding and event planner, which makes for very active work days. It can be tough to balance my blood sugar, especially while on an event!

What have you learned from your experiences with diabetes?

That it’s constantly changing. Food that was my enemy when I was first diagnosed, now barely gives me a spike. It’s honestly the biggest rollercoaster!
