My Story:

When you’re a diabetic, you always have to be on your toes. I work in a hospital, so I definitely have to be on alert at all times. There are days I have to put someone else’s life above mine, because when there’s an emergency I have to show up and give it my all even when my diabetes thinks otherwise. I try to stay prepared, but the thing about diabetes is that it doesn’t always make sense and when my blood glucose is low and there’s a patient who requires my attention I need to be able to pop something in my mouth fast and get to where I need to be.
