My Story:

One of the absolute hardest things about Type 1 Diabetes was how much it impacted being pregnant with my son. I hit bad resistance in my third trimester and my sugars were not as good as they should have been. My sons blood sugar at birth was less than 1 mmol/L.

My Health Details
Type of Diabetes:Type 1
Low blood sugar instances per week:4-5 Instances
Daily number of times checking blood sugar:7+ times/day
Managing Diabetes with:Insulin Shots
What age were you diagnosed with diabetes?6-10
How long does it typically take you to come up when you are low?Under 1 hour
Do you have a diabetic hero that you look up to? If so, who and why?

I do! One of my best friends is also Type 1 Diabetic. No matter what’s going on I can always reach out to her and feel 100% supported. She knows what I’m going through more than anyone else.

What is your biggest challenge with diabetes?

Since having my son, I have gone through bad resistance. My insulin needs are through the roof (greater than 300 units a day) which is becoming very expensive!

What have you learned from your experiences with diabetes?

I can handle anything that life throws my way because nothing is as hard, tiring and exhilarating as Type 1 Diabetes.
